Eva's first Pumpkin

Sunday, October 25, 2009
So its been quite a while since I last posted, and too much has happened that I don't know if I will have time to go back through and document everything that I have pictures of. So instead here are new pics from today:
Uncle Guy and Aunt Chris wanted Eva to have a pumpkin, which was very nice of them. Unfortunately Eva is too young to appreciate some of the treats that will probably come from their gift, but Nick and I will definitely appreciate it!
I have really been enjoying the season with Eva. We went for a "crispy" walk in the leaves the other day, we investigated our pumpkin today...Last weekend Eva dressed up for her first Halloween party...
I'm looking forward to the holiday season, I'm sure Eva will love all the colors and lights of Christmas.

It took a while (and quite a few shots) to get Eva to look up AND smile, but when she did it really worked well!

"Thanks for the pumpkin Uncle Guy and Aunt Chris!!!!!"

Eva eating Cereal

We had fun seeing her reaction to Rice cereal. Too cute!

She was playing happily one day and then I looked over and she was asleep!

Blog-worthy news

Monday, August 17, 2009
Eva is now 3 months old, and as of last night/this morning she has slept straight through the night for the first time! About 8 hours in fact. The lack of sleep thing has never really been a big issue for us because Nick is such a night owl that it works out for him to stay up if she is awake at night. But it is exciting to know that she can do it! Way to go Ladybug!! =D

Sunday outfit

Sunday, August 9, 2009
I thought I had better post some pics on here for Grandmas that couldn't see Eva this Sunday. This is a dress that friends from church "handed down" to Eva, and it was the perfect thing for her to wear today. Its 100% cotton, and very lightweight, great for a day when the humidity was around 90%.

Her new favorite thing is sucking on her hands, yum!

There were many comments on the dress and how cute she is in church. I have to admit that I totally agree.

Things that grow

A young zucchini that will probably end up being bars or bread

One of the blooms on the 4 o'clocks

Still love my violas, probably still my favorite...

Although these purple morning glories are a close second!

First zucchini I picked, can't really tell from the photo, but it was pretty big!

Mmm. Beans

I picked a huge basket full, and there are more to come later!
Now I can't take credit for the garden this year. I originally wasn't going to do one because when it was time for planting, etc. in the spring I was hugely pregnant and figured when would I have time to look after a garden when I am looking after an infant? Our neighbor Amanda took pity on me and the patch of weeds that I had growing and put in a bunch of stuff for us. This was my first "harvest" so to speak, so I'm sure there will be more pictures in the future!
Thanks for the flowers and veggies Amanda! =)

My only comment on this is that we had to edit a part out that was shall we say...sensored. ;-)

"Story time"

Monday, July 27, 2009
Don't have a lot of time for writing right now, just wanted to share these real quick. Earlier this evening I pulled out some of Eva's toys that have been sitting on the nursery shelves for the last 2 months. And boy am I glad I had grabbed the camera! Now she isn't ACTUALLY reading to the bear, but it sure looks like it! She was so happy just sitting (propped) up and looking at the book! These are going to be a couple of my favorite photos of Eva I think....

Yard Sale finds

Sunday, July 19, 2009
This past Thursday was Eva's 2 month check-up and first round of shots. Thankfully Nick took the day off from work and went with me, he was the calm one when Eva started screaming bloody murder when they did her shots. Later that afternoon Eva was real sleepy, so Nick stayed home with her and I took advantage of the free time and hit a few yard sales I had spotted when we were taking Eva to her appt.
I grew up going to yard sales, the salvation army, looking for the bargain rack, and wearing hand-me-downs. I'm not opposed to buying something used as long as its in good condition, and has a decent price. I found a whole bunch of stuff as you can see, all for Eva, and all for $7.35.

A lot of it she won't wear until next year, but I figure I should buy it now if I can find stuff at yard sales. People gave us so many clothes at baby showers, but none of it is really for when she is 1 year old and beyond.

This coat is probably my favorite find. It is practically brand new, but had some spots on it that looked like no one had even tried to get out! So some Tide w/ Dawn and a good soak later, and in a couple years Eva has an almost brand new coat for $1!!!!

I hadn't really been out to a yard sale in a long time, but was glad to find some good stuff.

Cool summer evenings

Monday, July 13, 2009
Some evenings after dinner Nick and I like to take Eva out onto our little "patio" area and sit on our swing. Its so relaxing. We really enjoy the quiet and the absence of the construction noise from the bridge...
We'll just chat while we swing, or Nick will hold Eva and I will work in my little garden. Its times like these that make me stop and think: "Life is good. And we are so blessed."

"The swing makes me sleepy..."

family stuff

Eva is really starting to focus and stare at things lately. She's looking at Hannah and Henry who were trying to get her to smile.

And it worked!

4 Generations of the Depew side

Does not look comfortable, but she wasn't crying so couldn't have been too bad.

Hangin' with Grandpa

Bright eyes

Alllllllmost asleep....

You can almost hear her snoring in this picture. =D

Every time she grins like this my heart melts

One crazy weekend & what we learned from it

Monday, June 22, 2009
Whew! I am actually happy to see Monday morning come! I believe I discovered something about our baby girl over the weekend. She likes being at home in her familiar surroundings. We had many meals out with my parents and one in Hallsport over the course of Saturday and Sunday, by Sunday afternoon she was so cranky there didn't seem to be anything we could do to make her happy. Our theory is that she was held and passed around so much, had too many naps interrupted, and was just generally exhausted that we wore the poor babe out. Once we got home changed her clothes and diaper, fed her and got her cozy, she went to sleep for 2 hours. She would have kept on sleeping but I wanted her to sleep that night plus I needed to feed her.
So in the future if we are invited to something and say we can't come or that we need to leave early, please don't take it personally. Odds are we are simply trying to keep Eva from getting worn out.
It was nice seeing everyone over the weekend, we just didn't know how Eva would handle it. She's doing better now, slept for 4 hours straight last night and is much happier this morning. =D

Video of Eva

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

We decided to put a video up for friends and family that can't be here physically to see Eva, and since not all of you use Facebook I've added it here as well. Enjoy!

About a week after she was born, we had a photographer come and take pictures of us with Miss Eva. Here is the link to the photographer's blog where she has posted some of the shots she took. I love her work and hope you enjoy it too!

Really wish I knew what she is thinking here

Almost a smile!

New pics

Can't believe how fast she is growing! Yesterday she started standing for a few seconds here and there. Now we're waiting for her to start smiling at us rather than just at random moments.

In case you hadn't noticed she will look anywhere but AT the camera!
